Here are the top stories in Riverhead today: Jason Melenciano, 40, of Riverhead, was charged with one count of second-degree assault after a physical altercation on West Main Street in Riverhead. According to Riverhead Town Police, at 9:18 p.m. a call came in about the dispute involving residents of a West Main Street home. One man, 39, sustained a laceration to his arm, police said. He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and released.(Riverhead Patch) Race on! Drag racing at the Calverton Enterprise Park got a green light for 2022 from the Riverhead Town Board Wednesday. The board approved four events to be organized by André Baxter and Peter Scalzo, who both held separate events at EPCAL last year. All events are scheduled to be held on the 10,000-foot, town-owned runway on the former Grumman site which, while rarely used, is still an active runway. Baxter held his 2021 event on the 10,000-foot runway, which was shut down to air traffic on the weekend of his event. Scalzo’s series of events last year took place on the 7,000-foot runway, which is inactive. (Credit: Dan Bower) Drag racing will return to the Enterprise Park at Calverton this year, as the Riverhead Town Board on Wednesday approved four events that will span multiple weekends from spring through fall. Promoter Andre Baxter’s “Scrambul: Cold Fusion” will take place March 5-6 with a rain date of March 12-13.  The vote to approve the special permit was not unanimous. Supervisor Yvette Aguiar and Councilman Tim Hubbard voted against it. Unique open source licenses provide amusement for developers but they create extra work for legal teams overseeing a company’s IP. Several of my open source friends had the same reaction when they heard of the death of Bob Saget. Sadly, the actor/comedian passed away last week at a relatively young age, and with him went an increment of open source license risk. Wait… what? Yes, it’s true. I was only vaguely aware of Saget when he was at his most famous as the father on the 1980s/90s sitcom Full House. At the time I was too busy with my career and filling my own house to watch a lot of TV. His role in the popular series was rather wholesome and a stark contrast to his fairly raunchy standup act. We’re wisely told to “follow the science” these days, but this notion will take on a whole different meaning in If Fusion Were That Easy, an upcoming point-and-click adventure from Golden Coin Games that will soon be coming to Kickstarter.  Players primarily assume to role of a young physicist name Daniel, who has a penchant for getting himself out of trouble he’s gotten himself into. The following is a transcript of my radar from Tuesday’s edition of “Rising” on HillTV. I learned something truly ridiculous about Betty White in one of the many tributes to her that aired last week. White’s first appearance on television was on an experimental broadcast that aired in 1939. She was 17.
