Lucid completes factory construction, aims to ramp up to 400,000 electric cars per year

Lucid Motor announced that it completed the first phase of construction at its EV factory in Arizona. Eventually, they plan to produce up to 400,000 electric cars per year at the facility after future expansions. The electric car startup impressed many earlier this year with the unveiling of the Air electric sedan, the company’s first car with a range of up to 517 miles on a single charge. But the vehicle has been delayed twice before and now the market is looking for them to deliver this time with serious production capacity being deployed. The Air is going to be built at Lucid’s factory, called ‘Lucid AMP-1 factory‘, in Casa Grande, Arizona. After delays due to the lack of financing, Lucid finally broke ground on the project last year and now they are announcing… Source link

Report: Microsoft to bring support for Android apps in Windows 10 next year, x86 emulation for ARM processors

L Love the Community Fv4 7 minutes ago I’d happily accept ARM as my architecture for Desktop PCs if they emulate old x86/x64 games flawlessly like Unreal Tournament 1999 or recently like Crysis. If ARM can make 3D movies create a good looking movie like Jurassic Park in the 90’s (learnt it from ColdFusion’s video) then it should run Crysis 1080p 144hz in “Can it run Crysis?” graphics settings. Here’s to hoping AMD to make a Ryzen successor and Radeon GPU in 2022 using ARM. A We know Microsoft trying something and most of the times abandon them Windows RT Windows Arm Windows mobile and so on Lets hope this report is a real thing and something polished like Apple did What apple has is a gem…to run Maya under rosetta2 and still better than… Source link

Nazeer leads Blairmont Blazers to victory over Cold Fusion

A pugnacious half century from Zameer Nazeer steered Blairmont Blazers to a six-wicket win over Cold Fusion yesterday at Tuchen, East Bank Essequibo. The friendly encounter saw Cold Fusion winning the toss and electing to bat. The hosts brought the heat and piled on 142 for seven from their allotted 12 overs but that was not enough for the West Berbice side which raced to 146 for three with five balls to spare. Leading the chase was Nazeer, who clubbed eight sixes and three fours on his way to a top score of 64. Nazeer entered the crease with Blazers already one down and on 24 after Marvan Prashad was dismissed for 10 and went on to add 83 for the second wicket with  Kevon Jawahir. Jawahir played the supporting role with an unbeaten 23, highlighted by two fours and one six. Source link

Musician eager to strike up band | Living

Quincy Sanders is not alone in wanting the pandemic to go away. The Fort Wayne saxophonist-songwriter-music teacher-studio musician-live performer has seen the number of gigs he performs dwindle to a few wedding receptions and private parties. He’s even had to look for jobs outside the Fort Wayne area. “I know that COVID-19 has affected a lot of people. In fact, a friend of mine normally plays at venues across the country and in Europe. But with the travel restrictions, she now has no work at all,” Sanders says. “I toured the Midwest the last three summers with her, but not this year. I guess I’m fortunate to be able to stay somewhat active and be able to make ends meet … so far. A lot of the gigs have been outside where it’s easier to social distance.” The… Source link

Pseudoscience moving into the mainstream | Opinion

The death of magician and debunker of frauds James Randi was a reminder that even pseudoscience and charlatanry used to come from a kinder world. Randi’s arch-antagonist was the ‘psychic’ Uri Geller, who always seemed to be on 1970s chat shows bending spoons with the power of his mind. I came across Randi (and witnessed a demonstration of his stage magic) while working for Nature after the journal had just published the notorious ‘memory of water’ paper by French immunologist Jacques Benveniste. The editor enlisted the magician to join the team that travelled to the French labs to witness a (failed) attempt to replicate the studies in which a biological molecule was said to retain its activity after being diluted to the point of total absence. That is now seen as one of… Source link
