Pick your spots at SASS to ensure a great meal

If you order carefully at SASS on the Capitol Square, you’re in for a great meal but there are a few things to avoid. Joe Perkins and business partner Kay Millonzi, who bought the longstanding Tutto Pasta on State Street in 2018, opened SASS on Aug. 19 next to Rare Steakhouse, the former location of Merci, and before that, Field Table. SASS is an acronym for “sauce and shelled seafood,” and the best things I’ve had in two visits involved sauce and seafood, but not of the shelled variety. … Source link

Jet of the future or pie in the sky? New supersonic design unveiled

Jet of the future or pie in the sky? New supersonic design unveiled

A new supersonic plane could get from London to New York in 80 minutes, that’s if it ever gets off the ground. The Hyper Sting concept would travel at 4000kph – almost twice that of Concorde. Spanish designer Oscar Viñals says 170 passengers could enjoy travel at over three times the speed of sound. He explains that a Mach 3.5 capability would be thanks to innovative systems like a so-far theoretical cold fusion nuclear reactor. At 100 metres, the Hyper Sting would be more than 30 metres longer than Concorde, and have a wider… Source link

From Our Archives: Letter from Lewis Larsen “LENRs are Better Than Fusion”

Lewis G. Larsen (Photo: S.B. Krivit) (Reprinted from Oct. 7, 2008) By Lewis G. Larsen In our recent preprint, “A Primer for Electro-Weak Induced Low Energy Nuclear Reactions,” we summarized our theoretical work at a less mathematically detailed and more conceptually oriented level. Sometimes, important physics concepts can be obscured by the formalism of complex mathematics that is required to describe rigorously the physical phenomena. This new paper provides a basic conceptual overview of our theory of Low-Energy Nuclear Reactions for a broader range of readers. We hope to entice some of them to take the time necessary to delve into the mathematical details of the collective electroweak physics that are contained in our six underlying papers. As we have stated many times before,… Source link

Oscar Viñals’ new concept for a supersonic nuclear-powered plane would fly from London to New York in 80 minutes

Oscar Viñals’ new concept for a supersonic nuclear-powered plane would fly from London to New York in 80 minutes

Barcelona, Spain Barcelona-based designer Oscar Viñals has envisioned The Hyper Sting as the next generation of air travel that in years to come it could fly 170 passengers at more than three times the speed of sound, or 2,486mph—nearly twice that of Concorde. The Hyper Sting would be much bigger than Concorde, with a length of 328ft, which is over 100ft longer than the Concorde, and a wingspan of 169ft, compared to Concorde’s 85ft. The design’s name comes from the shape of the aircraft. “The fuselage would have the shape of a ‘big sting’ with a very sharp ‘nose,’ that would have the function to control the front airflow (pressure/speed), in order to redistribute it over the central part and over the wings,” states. Viñals. Two ramjet… Source link

Wellness Wednesdays: Pack Snacks — Our guide to eating on campus | Opinion

Wellness Wednesdays: Pack Snacks — Our guide to eating on campus | Opinion

Meal plans are convenient for students who spend the majority of their time on campus, and if you’re like us, you probably still eat there daily. While the dining halls, Talley, the Oval and the Atrium have a relatively wide variety of options, there are additional options outside of campus dining. Cooking in a mini microwave and small space can be hard, but here are some tips and tricks that helped us out tremendously. During our time as first-year students, we experimented with snacking on a variety of foods in our dorm rooms. We found there were more options than thought that fit into our regular eating patterns. The majority of our shopping was done… Source link

New Nuclear-Powered Plane Could Travel From London To NYC In 80 Minutes

New Nuclear-Powered Plane Could Travel From London To NYC In 80 Minutes

Oscar Viñals, a Spanish designer, claims that his most recent creation could whisk travelers across the Atlantic at three times the speed of sound, allowing passengers to travel from London to New York City in less than 80 minutes. The “Hyper Sting” would travel from London to New York twice as fast as Concorde, which completed the trip in two hours and 53 minutes. It would also be nearly twice as big. The Hyper Sting, which is 328 feet long and can theoretically travel at a top speed of 2,664 mph, would be able to accommodate 130 to 170 passengers. Concorde had a wingspan of just 200 feet, a capacity of 100 passengers, and a peak speed of 1,354 mph. A typical commercial airplane… Source link
